Glossier | Essential Skincare Or Not?

Glossier launched in the UK a few months back and everyone went crazy for it! I sat back and watched my twitter feed fill with excitable bloggers who couldn’t wait to get their hands on the New York brand. At first, I wasn’t really that bothered but months went by, my instagram filled with images from the insta perfect brand and I finally caved and placed my first order. I asked on Twitter what I needed to add to my order, grabbed myself a 10% discount code and filled up my basket. Brands like this prove what a huge impact social media can have on purchasing habits, because after I’d seen a few hundred photos on my Instagram, I decided it was time to buy into the brand myself! So what did I buy…

Priming Moisturiser – described as light and buildable moisture for a dewy, smooth canvas. I ordered this one as it came up as a best seller on the Glossier website. I was in need of a new primer so thought this would be great, but honestly I was disappointed. Its a great moisturiser, but in terms of priming my skin before applying my daily makeup, I don’t think it adds much for the overall finish. Beautiful packaging but not one that I’d purchase again!

Milk Jelly Cleanser – one face wash to rule them all…? I’ve been using the the Oskia cleanser for the past few years and loved it but thought it was time to try something new. After the first pump I was a little hesitant as the smell was not to my taste at all, I can’t put my finger on what it smells like but I’m not keen at all! The overall formula is great and it works wonders for removing your makeup, but again I’m just not sure I’d purchase again.

Boy Brow – an all in one brow fluffer, filler & shaper. Now this one impressed me. The formula is great and doesn’t leave that powdery finish to your brows that some gels do. I’m getting my eyebrows micro bladed next week, and this will be perfect for just setting them in place once they’ve healed. Great for that minimal make up look and I love the simplistic packaging too, definitely a product I’ll repurchase!

Balm Dotcom – cult favourite ‘do everything’ skin salve. £10 for a lip balm felt a little steep too me, but I have used this product almost every day since it arrived and theres still so much left! The consistency of the balm is lovely, perfect for the gym and before going to bed as its moisturising but without being sticky on your lips. Theres nothing worse than a really sticky lip balm and your hair sticking to it! I got this in the coconut flavour which is clear balm but some of the other flavours also add a little colour too your lips too, I’m tempted to order the cherry one next!

I’m not sure the brand is worth the hype it originally received, but there are definitely a couple of staple products I’d order again. What are your favourite Glossier products?

You capture these so beautifully, your photos are gorgeous! You really bring out the dreamy minimalist feel of the packaging in these snaps 😀 I’ve been super curious about Glossier for a while but haven’t been able to spare any cash for it yet haha, this was so helpful in knowing what to go for when I do place my first order! xx
