Wedding Diary | Let The Planning Begin

Today marks 5 months since I was asked one of the most nerve wracking questions of my life – “Will you marry me?” and after 12 years together, of course I was going to say YES! Since then we’ve been enjoying engaged life and slowly started the planning process. We knew that we weren’t going to get married until 2018 as we’re also selling our house at the moment so unfortunately thats going to take priority in 2017. Since I haven’t really written about anything wedding related yet, I thought I’d take the time to update you all on the planning so far…

Originally, we’d had our hearts set on getting married abroad. We had found an incredible venue in Santorini, and the plan was to have a small wedding next September. But the more we looked into it, the more it started to stress me out! The venue was incredible but flights were expensive, villas were small and for 60 people we felt like we were asking too much to expect people to pay out such a large amount to share our day with us. So, we started a new search for UK based venues. There are quite a few in and around Northamptonshire but I picked faults with them all. “I don’t like the carpets”, “The chairs are horrible”, “It’s too big” – the list goes on! I’d heard of a website called ‘hitched.co.uk’ so we set the search for venues close by and that was when we saw it…

“A home from home wedding venue with on-site accommodation” it sounded perfect, so I emailed the venue and we scheduled to go and visit one weekend in January. As we drove down the country lane, I got this fuzzy feeling. We looked around the venue and the grounds, spoke to the staff about the options available for our wedding and as we left, we just knew it was the one!

We both knew we wanted a late summer wedding so we spent a week or so trying to decide the best date and making sure everything was workable. Now I’m so excited to share with you all that on Thursday 23rd August 2018, Robbie and I will get married at Notley Abbey in Buckinghamshire. The venue is absolutely breathtaking, and we cannot wait to share our special day with all of our families and close friends!

What better way to confirm the date than with the most beautiful biscuit card from The Biscuiteers? This one is usually the Engagement Biscuit Card, but can be personalised with your own message and this one was just perfect for us. I try to be healthy most of the time, but if you’ve ever tried a Biscuiteers biscuit, you’ll understand how hard they are to resist! You can also get £5 off your first tin when you sign up to their website, with Mother’s Day just around the corner it makes the most perfect gift.

I’d love to know if any of you have recently got engaged or are getting married as well?

Congratulations on your engagement! Those biscuits look absolutely delicious!
I do agree that Greece itself is very expensive, even for a holiday. Perhaps you should consider it for your honeymoon?
Good luck for the rest of your wedding planning, wishing you and your fiancé happiness and love

Thank you so much! It’s safe to say the biscuits didn’t last long!
Yes we thought about perhaps going for a couple of days as a ‘mini-moon’ after we’re married but will see closer to the time 🙂 x
