Twenty Sixteen | You’ve Been A Good One

I still can’t get my head around the fact that I have now been blogging for 2 whole years! I am still only a small dot in the ocean of blogging, but I love my little space online and the fact that people actually visit my site, and are interested in what I have to say makes the whole thing worthwhile!

I have seen lots of comments on Twitter from other people saying that they cannot wait for 2016 to be over, but for me 2016 has been one of the hardest, yet most rewarding years so far! Of course theres been sad times, my wonderful Grandad passed away and my sister went off travelling for 3 years (great for her, depressing for us) but I want to reflect on the things I’ve loved about 2016 and share it all with you too! There were a few goals that I set myself for 2016, hoping that I could achieve at least 1. But I’ve actually surprised myself…

This is such a small goal to some, but 1K on Instagram marked a very big milestone for me and I’m hoping 2017 will only be bigger and better! I also finally plucked up the courage to start my YouTube channel whilst we were away in Thailand this year. I want this to be a huge focus for next year as I feel like this will be a great way to grow my brand and get the ‘real me’ across to all of my readers/followers.

Getting that email inviting me, yes me, to my first event! Me? Are you sure? This was an amazing feeling and I’ve ended the year attending 6 events which was more than I ever could have imagined! My favourite had to be the Karen Millen X Olympus Event at the Birmingham Bullring Store as I met my blogging idol – Lydia Elise Millen! She was so lovely, we chatted away and she even stopped for a selfie – she is the definition of blogging goals and is totally nailing the industry!

I started off 2016 at the heaviest I have EVER been! I’m not going to say I was fat, but I certainly wasn’t comfortable in my body. I vowed to do something about it this year and here I am, 20lbs lighter and probably the best shape I have ever been in (ok, I’m eating a Galaxy Ripple as I write this but its still Christmas, right?) New Year I’ll be back on it hitting the gym harder than ever! My sister and I got a personal trainer for the last month of the year and it was the best decision, it taught me so much more about health & fitness and helped me to drop those last few pounds. Now my aim for 2017 is to get proper, defined abs!

Nothing comes cheap in this world and with so much to pay out for; house move, holidays, weddings, honeymoons, we knew we needed to start and save seriously! We promised to put a set amout of money away each month and start to clear out anything we didn’t need in the house (Depop & eBay have come in super handy) and we’ve stuck to it! We’re still youngish so I feel proud that we’ve managed to still enjoy ourselves whilst saving, and am excited to splash some cash in 2017, hopefully starting with a bigger house!

Another thing I wanted to do more of this year was travel. I work in a job that enables me to do just that but I also wanted to take time to travel with the ones I love, whether it was a weekend away in the UK or abroad, I want to take time to see the world. I ticked Copenhagen off my European travel wish list and also managed to see Bucharest, Rome, Thailand & Shanghai! 20 flights later, its safe to say 2016 was an amazing year for travel!

Saving the best until last, Robbie asked me to marry him! Looking down at the ring on my finger as I type, it instantly puts a smile on my face! We’ve been together for over 12 years, have a house together and had obviously spoken about marriage but I didn’t expect a thing as he got down on one knee in Thailand! The 18th October 2016 will forever have a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait for the day we say ‘I do’.

How was 2016 for you, I hope you can reflect on the best bits too. For me, I am looking forwards to celebrating the end of an amazing year with Robbie in London and toasting to 2017, hoping its even better than the last!
